Eligibility

A First Class, that is 60% or equivalent Grade in all previous qualifying examinations, that is 10+2+3+2, if you have completed or are in the process of completing your Post Graduate studies.

You should have applied for admission to the University or Institution of your choice, at the time of submitting the application. Please enclose copy of application and receipt, if any, from the university.

Please notify us as soon as you receive confirmation of your admission. You will not be called for interview by Selection Committee if you have not received a confirmed admission.


The international scholarships are open to all Indian citizens resident in India, below 30 years of age on November 1, 2007.

Scholarships are not awarded to those who have already started a course or project abroad. Proposals covering courses available in India are discouraged. Scholarships are not awarded to those whose intended course of study will involve fieldwork in India during the tenure.

As a merit-cum-means grant, the Foundation requires the applicant to submit duly authorized proof of family income.

Duly filled-in Application forms must include the following 

1. Detailed official record of the applicant's academic achievements.

2. Letter of application, along with receipt/acknowledgement, for admission to a course of study in top ranked universities, institutes or centers, in India or overseas.

3. Evidence of participation in extracurricular activities in addition to academic achievements.

4. A 2000-word proposal on your area of specialization including your understanding of the broader context of the subject of specialization and an assessment of the value of your proposal not only to your career but on the contribution you hope to make to knowledge and society. The essay should be presented in printed format. 

5. A 300-word personal profile (hand-written) introducing you, the person, to the evaluators.

6. 2 separate samples of the applicant's written work. These could be essays, articles, course work that you have done for your degree in the immediate past. Please note that all written work must be certified by Principal, Director, Head of Department, Dean or Supervisor

7. Two photocopies of the completed application form, the 2000 word printed proposal and 300 word handwritten personal profile.

The final interviews will take place in June-July 2008 for candidates taking up places in Aug/Sep 2008. All applicants must be available for interviews in India. Candidates who do not receive any communication by May 15, 2008 must assume that their application has been unsuccessful.

Application forms must be completed with the check boxes provided for in the form ticked. The Application must include the following required documents and submitted by Feb 15, 2008

1.  A two-thousand-word printed proposal, putting the subject in the context of the discipline in which the candidate is eager to pursue higher studies. A three-hundred-word handwritten personal profile by the candidate, duly attested by the Principal / Director / Head of Department / Supervisor.

2.  Two samples of written work, in addition, to the 2000 word printed proposal and a handwritten personal profile by the candidate. The samples may include course work, that is, essays. It could include articles published in any journal, magazine, newspaper etc. All proposals and profiles must be certified by a minimum of two referees, (duly attested by the Principal / Director / Head of Department / Supervisor) under whom he / she has studied for a minimum of one year.

3.  Candidates in Architecture, Fine Arts, Applied Arts and other related subjects must submit twelve colour transparencies of recent creative work, in a plastic folder, giving the size of the original, the material used and the date completed. These materials will not be returned. A letter certifying the candidate’s work duly attested by the Principal / Director / Head of Department / Supervisor must be attached.

4.  Candidates for Film, Dance and Acting must submit a video cassette (VHS) / CD, which will be returned. A letter certifying the candidate’s work duly attested by the Principal / Director / Head of Department / Supervisor must be attached.

5.  Candidates for Music must submit a tape, which will not be returned. A letter certifying the candidate’s work duly attested by the Principal / Director / Head of Department / Supervisor must be attached.

6.  Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.5) envelopes (4" x 9") must be enclosed.

7.   Please attach the photocopy of the degree certificates, (10 + 2 + 3 + ), duly attested by the Principal / Director / Head of Department / Supervisor.

8.  Attach the income certificates of family members, self (if applicable), duly attested by a Class I Gazetted Officer or Charted Accountant.

9.  Annual Income in case of retired person: pension or other incomes must be stated.

10. Estimate of funds required in Indian Rupees state separately cost of tuition + travel + living expenses.

11. Please attach a photocopy of the completed application form and 1,2,3,8,9,10,11.
